Description

Application for exchange of driving licenses by residents of Spain obtained in a Member State of the European Union or in States Parties to the Agreement on the European Economic Area.

Driving licenses issued in any Member State of the European Union or in States Parties to the Agreement on the European Economic Area in accordance with Community regulations will remain valid in Spain, under the conditions in which they would have been issued in their place of origin, With the exception that the age required for driving will correspond to that required to obtain the equivalent Spanish license.

However, driving licenses issued by any of these States that are restricted, suspended or withdrawn in any of them or in Spain will not be valid for driving in Spain.

The holder of a driving license issued in one of these States who has acquired his normal residence in Spain will be subject to the Spanish provisions regarding its period of validity, control of his psychophysical aptitudes and the assignment of a credit of points.

In the case of a driving license not subject to a specific period of validity, its holder must proceed with its renewal, once two years have elapsed since they establish their normal residence in Spain.

Documentation:

• Proof of identity and residence: DNI or NIE and valid Passport, to prove residence. Valid community driving license.
• Padron Certificate. In case the address in the DNI or residence is not updated.
• Updated photograph: a 32 x 26 mm original.
• Written declaration of not being deprived by judicial resolution of the right to drive motor vehicles and mopeds, nor subject to intervention or suspension of the one in possession.
